I am happy to announce that June Meyer's
Authentic Hungarian Heirloom Recipes cookbook
is now in it's THIRD PRINTING!

June Meyer

I would like to welcome you to explore my Heirloom Hungarian Recipes page. These recipes are authentic, pre World War One family recipes from the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Alsace-Lorraine. The recipes were never written down, but have been handed down for many generations in my family, by example. I want to preserve these recipes for my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and all the generations of other families who thought these recipes were lost to them.

There has been an unbelievable response to the recipes and cookbook since it's initial printing in 1995, thousands of books have been sold in North America, South America, Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom. The recipes have been collected by people over the Internet in virtually every corner of the world. Mention the most remote island, mountain top, or secluded hamlet and you will find my recipes being cooked there. I have received over 1.25 million hits to my web site, growing over 600 hits a day.

I spend many hours on my iMac reading e-mail from readers of my web site and purchasers of my book of recipes. All are letters of gratitude for my saving and sharing these old wonderful recipes.

Who is June Meyer?
I am a retired elementary school Art Teacher. I received my BAE from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1958. I taught Art at Wilmot Elementary in Deerfield, Illinois for 24 years. I have lived in Deerfield for 46 years. Deerfield is a northern suburb of Chicago. I was born in Chicago, in what is now called a "Historical Cottage", which was really a small house, built right after the Great Chicago Fire.

Retirement keeps me busy. I am an active member of the Lake County chapter of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. I was editor of the LCRTA newsletter for five years. For five years, I served as a volunteer Ombudsman for the Illinois Department of Aging, as an advocate for long term care residents in nursing homes.

My grandchildren, Tim, Tom and Jenny were taught their Internet skills on my old Mac IIsi when they were only two or three years old. Today, they have their own iMac to use. They are growing up, Tim is 16, Tom is 11 and Jenny is 14.

See the home page of my son, Aaron D. Meyer. He is a Commercial Photographer in the Chicago area, and is also the Macintosh expert of the family. He helped me put these Web pages together. Melissa, my daughter and mother of Tim, Tom and Jenny, and her husband Matt are also Mac users, although Tim helps his Mom find her way around the Internet.

My son and I are the proud parents of BIRDY, a Quaker Parrot, who has come to live with us. He loves Chicken Paprikas, and Hungarian Meatballs, scrambled eggs, and hot cereal. We love him, and he keeps us laughing with his silly antics.
