This series of bronzes were modeled from the figure directly into wax in order to create a sense of individuality inherent in each personality. Part of a continuing series, each bronze is 'unique', meaning that only one piece was cast from the original wax. A sense of surface is imparted by the bronze cast record of the artist's tactile 'dance of fingertips' over the surface of each final piece which in itself suggests a subtle union between the artist and her impression of the the subject. Some of the figures are mounted upon rough hewn wooden plinths while others are supported by cast Lennox crystal columns in different classical and historical motifs. To achieve a aged crumbling surface, the handling of the columns vary using a variety of techniques that range from surface ceramic glazes and changing the composition of the glass 'frit'. As the personality of each model was different, so was the character of each patina applied. This series conveys the artist's vision of timeless individuality and essential humanity portrayed against the unrelenting backdrop of the current modern post industrial society.
