Your first CranioSacral Therapy (CST) session begins with a short discussion about the reason/s you have come for CST. The therapist will explain the process and answer any questions you may have.
Many clients use CST to reduce stress and promote a general sense of well-being in their daily life. Some clients use CST for physical or emotionally based problems, frequently in conjunction with other types of therapy.
During the CST session you are fully clothed lying on a massage table. The room will be dimly lit and soft music will be playing.
This atmosphere helps you feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable.
The therapist will use very gentle touch at various points on your body to detect and release any restrictions which may exist.
Gentle touch is used to sense the activity within your body and to facilitate response of your bodies natural self-correcting mechanisms.
This process most frequently produces a state of deep relaxation and you may sense some of the correcting activity as the session progresses.
There may be times when the releasing process will bring memories relating to how the restriction or blockage was originally induced. This allows release of the emotional, as well as physical components of injury or abuse.
