Information about MG217 Psoriasis/Severe Dandruff Products for Skin and Scalp MG217 products have been used successfully by consumers for treatment of psoriasis symptoms since the 1980's. All MG217 products are manufactured to meet all U.S. FDA rules and regulations for over-the-counter products. MG217 formulas, in addition to the active ingredients, contain moisturizers and conditioners to hydrate and nurture the skin and scalp.

MG217 products are proven safe and effective in the treatment of psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff symptoms.

MG217 products contain one or more of the following active ingredients:

Coal Tar - Coal tar products have long been recommended by physicians and dermatologists for the treatment of psoriasis. Patients often experience disappearance of scales, less itching and reduction of redness with the use of coal tar. Additionally, research suggests that coal tar is instrumental in slowing down the overproduction of skin cells, thus promoting healthy, clear skin or scalp.

Salicylic Acid - Salicylic acid has "keratolytic" properties, which means that the scales (or plaques) will swell, soften and ultimately fall off. Removal of the scales makes the underlying layers of skin tissue more accessible to medication. In addition, it is antiseptic and rids the affected area of invading organisms.

Colloidal Sulfur - Colloidal sulfur is a special microsized form of sulfur, which has been proven effective in the treatment of skin/scalp disorders. Colloidal sulfur also has strong "keratolytic" properties and demonstrates a definite synergistic effect when used in combination with salicylic acid.

Which MG217 Product is Right For You? Skin Care Products Medicated Tar Ointment

Effectively removes scales, relieves itching and dryness, promotes healthy, clear skin.

Intensive strength formula with 10% Coal Tar Solution USP (equivalent to 2% coal tar). The Ointment base is designed to retain the skin’s natural moisture and enhance the penetration and therapeutic effectiveness of the active ingredient. Due to the degree of moisture retention with this ointment base, no other moisture barriers such as plastic wraps are necessary.

Helps prevent the recurrence of psoriasis symptoms.

Not for use on the scalp, may be very difficult to remove from the hair.

Sal-Acid Ointment

Helps eliminate scales, relieves itching and moisturizes skin.

Contains Salicylic Acid 3% with Vitamin E.

Especially helpful for stubborn scale removal and plaque build-up of the skin.

Not recommended for use on the scalp or face.

Skin care tip:

Use the MG217 Sal-Acid Ointment to loosen and remove stubborn scales. Treat the underlying skin with MG217 Medicated Tar Ointment or MG217 Medicated Tar Lotion.

Medicated Tar Lotion

Controls itching and flaking plus replenishes moisture and softens the skin.

Maintains healthy, clear skin - particularly once the scales are removed using MG217 Medicated Tar Ointment or MG217 Sal-Acid Ointment.

Contains Coal Tar Solution USP 5% (equivalent to 1% coal tar). Also contains Jojoba for ultimate moisturizing properties.

Helps prevent the recurrence of psoriasis symptoms.

Light, greaseless, non-staining formula.

Sal-Acid Solution

Helps remove scales of the scalp or skin.

Contains Salicylic Acid 3% with Vitamin E.

Ideal for stubborn plaque build-up on the scalp. Can also be used for skin, but not recommended for face.

Scalp care tip:

Use the MG217 Sal-Acid Solution prior to shampooing to loosen stubborn scales. Then use MG217 Medicated Tar Shampoo to treat the underlying area.

Maximum strength severe dandruff formula with conditioners.

Dual ingredient formula fights itching, flaking and scaling.

Contains Colloidal Sulfur 5% and Salicylic Acid 3% - strongest formula available without a prescription.

Conditioning formula leaves hair clean, soft and manageable.

Scalp/hair care tip:

To relieve a current flare-up or persistent scaling, flaking and itching, use MG217 Medicated Shampoo daily until symptoms are controlled. Thereafter, use at least twice a week to maintain healthy, clear scalp. When shampooing, leave the shampoo on for 5 - 10 minutes to allow enough time for the medication to penetrate the scalp and start working.
